allah shall not take you to task for what is frivolous in your oaths ; but he shall take you to task for what you pledge in earnest . the atonement for it is to feed ten needy persons with the average food you give to your families , or their clothing , or the freeing of a slave . he who cannot afford shall fast for three days . that is the atonement for your oaths when you vow . but keep your oaths . thus does allah clarify his signs for you so that you may give thanks .
ख़ुदा तुम्हारे बेकार क़समों पर तो ख़ैर गिरफ्तार न करेगा मगर बाक़सद पक्की क़सम खाने और उसके ख़िलाफ करने पर तो ज़रुर तुम्हारी ले दे करेगा उसका जुर्माना जैसा तुम ख़ुद अपने एहलोअयाल को खिलाते हो उसी क़िस्म का औसत दर्जे का दस मोहताजों को खाना खिलाना या उनको कपड़े पहनाना या एक गुलाम आज़ाद करना है फिर जिससे यह सब न हो सके तो मैं तीन दिन के रोज़े ये तुम्हारी क़समों का जुर्माना है जब तुम क़सम खाओ और अपनी क़समों का ख्याल रखो ख़ुदा अपने एहकाम को तुम्हारे वास्ते यूँ साफ़ साफ़ बयान करता है ताकि तुम शुक्र करो
