اور ان سے پوچھا جائے گا کہ "اب کہاں ہیں وہ جن کی تم خدا کو چھوڑ کر عبادت کیا کرتے تھے؟

they said, “did you do this to our gods, o ibrahim?”
(ابراہیمؑ کے آنے پر) اُنہوں نے پوچھا "کیوں ابراہیمؑ، تو نے ہمارے خداؤں کے ساتھ یہ حرکت کی ہے؟"

"did you do this to our gods, o abraham?" they enquired.
(ابراہیمؑ کے آنے پر) اُنہوں نے پوچھا "کیوں ابراہیمؑ، تو نے ہمارے خداؤں کے ساتھ یہ حرکت کی ہے؟"

did you think that we had created you for a playful purpose and that you were not to return to us?"
سو کیا تم نے یہ خیال کر لیا تھا کہ ہم نے تمہیں بے کار (و بے مقصد) پیدا کیا ہے اور یہ کہ تم ہماری طرف لوٹ کر نہیں آؤ گے؟،

what, did you think that we created you only for sport, and that you would not be returned to us?'
تو کیا یہ سمجھتے ہو کہ ہم نے تمہیں بیکار بنایا اور تمہیں ہماری طرف پھرنا نہیں

on the day when he will call to them, and say, “what did you answer the messengers?”
اس دن انہیں بلا کر پوچھے گا کہ تم نے نبیوں کو کیا جواب دیا؟

what! did you then think that we had created you in vain and that you shall not be returned to us?
تو کیا یہ سمجھتے ہو کہ ہم نے تمہیں بیکار بنایا اور تمہیں ہماری طرف پھرنا نہیں

and [mention] the day he will call them and say, "what did you answer the messengers?"
اس دن انہیں بلا کر پوچھے گا کہ تم نے نبیوں کو کیا جواب دیا؟

[musa (moses)] said: "and what is the matter with you. o samiri? (i.e. why did you do so?)"
(بعد ازاں) کہا اے سامری! تیرا کیا معاملہ ہے؟

until, when all of them have arrived, allah will say: "did you give the lie to my signs even without encompassing them with your knowledge? if that is not so, what did you do?"
جب سب کے سب آپہنچیں گے تو اللہ تعالیٰ فرمائے گا کہ تم نے میری آیتوں کو باوجودیکہ تمہیں ان کا پورا علم نہ تھا کیوں جھٹلایا؟ اور یہ بھی بتلاؤ کہ تم کیا کچھ کرتے رہے؟
