and he spake this parable unto them, saying,

han fremsetter en lignelse for dere fra deres egne forhold.
he coineth for you a similitude of yourselves.

dere mennesker, det er gjort en lignelse, så lytt til!
o mankind! a similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): verily!

du har vel bemerket at gud bruker lignelse for et godt ord?
beholdest thou not how allah hath propounded the similitude of the clean word?

da svarte peter og sa til ham: tyd denne lignelse for oss!
then answered peter and said unto him, declare unto us this parable.

hans disipler sa: se, nu taler du fritt ut og sier ingen lignelse;
his disciples said unto him, lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

dere skal ikke lage lignelser om gud!
do not compare god with anyone.
