it's important to check that the layouts are exactly with the same dimensions, that is they have to coincide perfectly: if this doesn't happen the quality of the final result is partially compromised, as some tracks could result too wide and overlap to adjacent ones, with easily imaginable effects on circuit behaviour, or, above all the thinest ones, could be not present at all because of insufficient mask's opacity in that area.
