Յիսուս պատասխանեց եւ ասաց նրանց. «Եղիան կը գայ եւ կը վերահաստատի ամէն ինչ.

թէ՝ Յովհաննէսը մեռելներից յարութիւն է առել, իսկ ոմանց ասածի վրայ, թէ՝ Եղիան յայտնուեց, եւ ուրիշների՝ թէ՝ նախկին մարգարէներից մէկը յարութիւն է առել:

Նրանք պատասխան տուեցին եւ ասացին. «Յովհաննէս Մկրտիչը, եւ ոմանք՝ Եղիան, իսկ ուրիշներ՝ մարգարէներից մէկը»:

and they asked him, and said unto him, why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that christ, nor elias, neither that prophet?
Նրանք հարցրին նրան ու ասացին. «Իսկ դու ինչո՞ւ ես մկրտում, եթէ դու չես Քրիստոսը, ոչ էլ Եղիան եւ ոչ էլ մարգարէն»:

and they said, some say that thou art john the baptist: some, elias; and others, jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Եւ նրանք ասացին. «Մէկը, թէ՝ Յովհաննէս Մկրտիչը, եւ ուրիշներ՝ Եղիան, իսկ ոմանք, թէ՝ Երեմիան, կամ մարգարէներից մէկը»:

and when his disciples james and john saw this, they said, lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as elias did?
Երբ նրա աշակերտները՝ Յակոբոսը եւ Յովհաննէսը, այդ տեսան, ասացին. «Տէ՛ր, կամենո՞ւմ ես, որ ասենք, եւ երկնքից կրակ իջնի ու բնաջինջ անի նրանց»:

Արդարեւ, ասում եմ ձեզ, որ Եղիայի օրով Իսրայէլում բազում այրիներ կային, երբ երկինքը փակուեց երեք տարի ու վեց ամիս, եւ ամբողջ երկրի վրայ մեծ սով եղաւ:

and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the lord.
Նա Եղիայի հոգով եւ զօրութեամբ պիտի գնայ նրա առաջից, որպէսզի հայրերի սրտերը որդիներին դարձնի ու անհնազանդներին՝ արդարների իմաստութեանը՝ Տիրոջ համար պատրաստ մի ժողովուրդ կազմելու»:

and he answered and told them, elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought.
Նա պատասխանեց նրանց եւ ասաց. «Եղիան նախ պիտի գայ եւ ամէն բան կարգի պիտի դնի. իսկ ինչո՞ւ մարդու Որդու մասին գրուած է, որ շատ չարչարանքներ պիտի կրի ու անարգուի:

and it came to pass, as they departed from him, peter said unto jesus, master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for moses, and one for elias: not knowing what he said.
