Мегӯянд: «Оё мо ба ҳолати нахустин бозмегардем,

what, shall we make those who are submissive like the wrongdoers?
Оё бо таслимшудагон чун ба гунаҳкорон рафтор мекунем?

what, shall we make those who have surrendered like to the sinners?
Оё бо таслимшудагон чун ба гунаҳкорон рафтор мекунем?

saying, 'what, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?'
ва мегуфтанд: «Оё ба хотири шоири девонае худоёнамонро тарк гӯем?»

and say: "what! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a poet possessed?"
ва мегуфтанд: «Оё ба хотири шоири девонае худоёнамонро тарк гӯем?»

so they said, “what! shall we follow a man from among us? if we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!”
Гуфтанд: «агар аз инсоне монанди худ пайравӣ кунем, гумроҳу девона бошем!

and they said: what! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us?
ва гуфтанд: «Оё ба ду инсон, ки монанди мо ҳастанд ва қавмашон бандагони мо буданд, имон биёварем?»

Гуфтанд: «агар аз инсоне монанди худ пайравӣ кунем, гумроҳу девона бошем!

they say (now): "what! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state?

what! shall we treat those who have submitted (to our command) like those who have acted as criminals?
Оё бо таслимшудагон чун ба гунаҳкорон рафтор мекунем?

and when it is said to them, 'expend of that god has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'what, shall we feed such a one whom, if god willed, he would feed?
Ва чун гуфта шавад, ки аз он чӣ Худо рӯзиятон кардааст, садақа кунед, кофирон ба мӯъминон гуянд: «Оё касонеро таъом диҳем, ки агар Худо мехост, худ онҳоро таъом медод?

should he not know,- he that created? and he is the one that understands the finest mysteries (and) is well-acquainted (with them).
Оё он кӣ офарида, намедонад? Ҳол он ки Ӯ борикбину огоҳ аст.

"we do not come down," (will the angels say) "but only by your lord's command."
