they will swear by allah unto you, when ye return unto them, that ye may let them be.

basi waachilieni mbali. hakika hao ni najsi, na makaazi yao ni jahannamu, kuwa ni malipo kwa waliyo kuwa wakiyachuma.
so avert from them: verily they are an abomination, and their resort is hell--a recompense for that which they have been earning.

but if they repent and fulfil their devotional obligations and pay the zakat, then let them go their way, for god is forgiving and kind.

basi mnapo wakuta walio kufuru wapigeni shingoni mwao, mpaka mkiwadhoofisha wafungeni pingu. tena waachilieni kwa hisani au wajikomboe, mpaka vita vipoe.
now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens.

na mtakapo wapa wanawake t'alaka, nao wakafikia kumaliza eda yao, basi warejeeni kwa wema au waachilieni kwa wema. wala msiwarejee kwa kuwadhuru mkafanya uadui.

but when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful.
