oligobenzimidazole derivatives of general formula (i): in which r represents a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl or alkylcarbamoyl radical or a piperazinyl group optionally substituted in position 4 with an alkyl containing 1 to 4 straight or branched carbon atoms, or alternatively r represents an imidazolyl group, n is an integer equal to 2, 3, 4 or 5, and r' represents a group -o-r 3 , -s-r 3 , nhr 3 or o-co-nh-r 3 and r 3 represents an alkyl group, or alternatively r' represents a group -nr 4 r 5 or -o-co-nr 4 r 5 and r 4 and r 5 , which may be identical or different, each represent an alkyl group, the alkyl radicals mentioned above being, except where specified otherwise, straight or branched, optionally saturated and containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms, it being understood that r' is other than or 3 with r 3 representing a dodecyl substituent when r represents 4-methylpiperazinyl and that n is equal to 2, as well as the metal salts thereof, the addition salts thereof with the nitrogenous bases and the addition salts thereof with acids.
